Children’s Summit Set For Calaveras

San Andreas, CA — An effort is underway to make sure children in Calaveras County are included in any potential General Plan Update.

Currently the county is having a consultant evaluate the general plan to come up with a work plan for the update process.

First 5 Calaveras Executive Director Karen Pekarcik wants to make sure that children are included in the plan.

A Children´s Summit will be held at Ironstone Vineyards October 13. It will look at including a recently completed children´s master plan into the General Plan.

The children´s plan is called Our Children, Our Community and is a 10 Year Master Plan for Calaveras County Children and Youth.

Pekarcik says the county should be planning communities that result in kids growing into healthy adults who can afford to live here.
