Calaveras County Non-Profit Receives $2,000 Grant
Angels Camp, CA — The Society for the Preservation of West Calaveras History has received a $2,000 grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation.
Thanks to the grant, “Something From Nothing,” an exhibition of photographs chronicling the early people and places of west Calaveras will become a reality.
When completed, the exhibit and an accompanying brochure will be available to schools, service clubs and other neighborhood organizations so the public may learn more about the fascinating early days of Burson, Campo Seco, Jenny Lind, Paloma, Valley Springs and Wallace. The exhibit will feature late nineteenth and early twentieth century photographs from the Calaveras Historical Scoiety, Calaveras County Archives and S.P.W.C.H. members.
S.P.W.C.H. was formed this year as a nonprofit educational association to further a sense of community pride by drawing attention to the early days of the western section of Calaveras County.
