Calaveras Probation Gets New Computer System

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — A new case management computer system is going to help the Calaveras County Probation Department keep track of its offenders.

Monday the Board of Supervisors authorized the purchase of the $80,000 system and ongoing maintenance of $13,000 per year.

Probation Chief Michael Kriletich says New Dawn Technologies makes the system, which will log juvenile offenders´ risk level, last contact made, offenses and other issues.

It will also serve as a financial program to manage the department´s accounts and collections. Kriletich says there is roughly $2 million outstanding in fines, fees and administrative costs. The new system will create and send out bills, which he hopes will bring back some of that money.

The Calaveras County Grand Jury has been after the department to institute such a system.
