Still Waiting On Tioga
Yosemite National Park, CA — Ebbetts and Sonora Passes may be open, but we´re still waiting for the green light to travel across Tioga Pass.
Yosemite Spokesman Scott Gediman says park crews are currently dealing with ice and avalance zones in an effort to open the 9,945 foot pass before the first of July.
Crews are allowing the snow to melt in some areas while in others they will resort to blasting out the winter residual. Those areas would include Olmstead Point and Spring Hill.
Gediman says it is impossible to pinpoint a specific date for the pass to open. Yosemite officials are hoping to open the highest pass in the Sierra Nevadas in two weeks time.
