Calaveras Idol Goes To San Andreas Teen
Angels Camp, CA — It was local twist on the national phenomenon American Idol that had the crowds cheering Saturday evening at the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee.
Four girls competed in the Calaveras Idol competition. Each sang two songs.
But it was Amanda Pratt of San Andreas that wowed the judges and earned the trophy, a $250 check and a chance to compete at the Gold Country Fair in Northern California.
She sang “Big Deal” by LeAnn Rimes and “This Woman Needs” by Shedaisy.
18-year old Pratt moved from Paso Robles last year. She attends Delta College and works at Salon 2000.
Pratt says in the future she would like to teach deaf children.
