Increase OK’d For Murphys Utility District

Sponsored by:

Murphys, CA — The Union Public Utility District Board of Directors Wednesday night passed an increase on its water rates.

The board unanimously approved a proposal to raise the current base rate of $29 by $2 every year for the next five years.

The first hike will take effect June 1 of this year. Office manager Diane Severud says the subsequent hikes will happen in November when its not peak watering season.

Severud says the increase allows the district to keep up with the regular cost of doing business.

The district provides water to 1,600 connections throughout the Murphys area.
