Angels Camp Celebrates The Fair With A Parade
Angels Camp, CA — The Frog Jump Youth Parade kicked off Thursday´s events for the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee.
Firemen, cub scouts, dancers, and bands made their way down a closed portion of Highway 49 for the annual event sponsored by the Soroptimists of Calaveras County.
Crowds lined the downtown area. A favorite of kids was Smokey the Bear who rounded out the end of the parade riding on the back of a U.S. Forest Service truck.
Friday´s events at the fair will include an 8 p.m. performance by the 1980´s rock band Loverboy.
On the main stage Saturday at 6 p.m. are the Calaveras Idol finals, followed by country band Hot Apple Pie.
Sunday the International Frog Jump Finals will take place at 2:30 p.m. The Destruction Derby starts at 5:30 p.m.
