The Final Debate; Westly And Angelides

Sponsored by:

San Francisco, CA — The top Democrats in the governor´s race, state Treasurer Phil Angelides and state Controller Steve Westly, went on the attack last night in their last debate before the June 6th primary.

Westly described Angelides as a career politician and “champion smear artist” who wants to raise taxes by $10 billion. He questioned whether Angelides´ campaign contributions from real estate interests would influence his decisions.

Angelides cited his support from the Sierra Club and other environmental groups and said his proposed tax increases would allow the state to fully fund schools and were aimed at wealthy individuals and corporations, not the middle class.

The debate was held at CBS-5 Television in San Francisco.
