Sponsored by:

Clements, CA — The San Joaquin County Sheriff´s Department is investigating a shooting that involved a Calaveras County sheriff´s deputy Saturday at the Mokelumne Fish Hatchery.

Calaveras County deputies received a report that someone had been shot near Camanche Reservoir around 7:15PM. The deputies were unable to find a shooting victim so they proceeded to the fish hatchery located in San Joaquin County.

At the hatchery the deputies discovered a vehicle with two people standing in front of it and a third in the back seat. As deputies moved toward the vehicle, one of the men pointed a shotgun at them. One of the deputies then shot and killed the man before he was able to fire off a round.

The names of the deputies and suspects have yet to be released. At least three Calaveras County deputies have been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff´s Department is overseeing the investigation.
