Angels Camp Bypass Good To Go

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA — A new stretch of road that would bypass downtown Angels Camp just got the funding it needs to begin construction.

The California Transportation Commission met last week and approved staff´s recommendation to give the project $18 million.

The bypass would start at the Highway 4/49 intersection and pop out on Highway 49 near the Rolleri Bypass.

The project has been on the books for years and for a while it looked like funding would not be available until 2009.

Calaveras Council of Governments Interm Director Brittany Odermann says, this new development means the project is back on schedule.

The project will go out to bid late this summer and will most likely be awarded in late fall. Construction could begin by the spring of 2007.

Building will take 3 years. The total cost of the project is $40 million.
