Burn Permits Required Today

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Effective 8AM today, burn permits will be required by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne/Calaveras Unit.

Fire officials are advising residents to complete all of their burning projects as early as possible because fire permits are routinely suspended for the duration of the summer months when fire conditions in the Mother Lode become more hazardous.

CDF says burn piles should be no larger than four feet in diameter. Officials ask residents to clear at least 10 feet of bare dirt around each pile and create a 100 foot defensible space around all structures. In addition, never burn on windy days.

CDF burn permits and information can be found at any local CDF station. Additional fire information can be found on the MyMotherLode.Com Fire Information pages .
