Burning Permits Required Starting Monday

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Starting at 8:00am Monday, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne/Calaveras Unit will require permits for all burning.

Fire officials advise residents to complete all of their burning projects early because fire permits are routinely suspended for the duration of the summer months when fire conditions become more hazardous.

CDF says that burn piles should be no larger than four feet in diameter, they ask that residents clear at least 10 feet to bare dirt around the pile, and most importantly never burn on windy days.

CDF burn permits and information can be found at your local CDF station. Burn only on permissive air pollution burn days.
