Rollover Accident Leaves Women With Major Injuries

Sonora, CA — Two women are recovering from major injuries after a vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol says 17-year-old Robert Weller was driving east on Shaws Flat Road and was stopped at the stop sign on Highway 49.

CHP reports indicate 53-year-old Kathleen Diener was traveling northbound on Highway 49 approaching Shaws Flat Road.

Weller claims he did not see Diener and drove his vehicle into the intersection causing Diener´s vehicle to overturn into a ditch.

Diener was trapped inside the vehicle for more than 30 minutes until rescue personnel could lift the vehicle and release her.

The CHP says Diener and her passenger were taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
