A Fallen Tree Buries A Sonora Resident

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — What a Sunday evening it was for Sonora´s Leslie McCullough!

Stepping out of her car at her home she was hit by a falling tree measuring some 17 feet in circumference. The rain-soaked soil could hold the tree no longer.

McCullough was pinned under the tree until she was freed by paramedics. According to her neighbor, Sylvia Montano, she never panicked during the experience. She simply asked if somebody could please help her while she was buried under eight feet of branches.

McCullough is reportedly resting comfortably with a compound ankle fracture.

Lower Sunset between Court and Yaney was closed early Monday as crews removed the tree. Power in that area was interrupted for much of the night.
