AAA Rounds Up Car Batteries For Safer Communities

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Starting Wednesday, AAA will hold its fifth annual Great Battery Roundup.

Mother Lode residents are encouraged to take any number of old vehicle or boat batteries to recycling locations.

For every battery it receives, AAA will donate $2 to one of 24 local nonprofit groups devoted to environmental preservation and education.

During last year´s Great Battery Roundup, AAA collected more than 8,000 batteries for recycling and donated more than $16,000 to local environmental charities.

When handling batteries AAA suggests wearing gloves, keeping the batteries upright, and not exposing them to an open flame.

Batteries can be dropped off in Sonora at Vic´s Towing on Washington Street from April 12th through the 22nd.
