San Andreas, CA — Organizers of the third annual Kites Over Calaveras were very pleased with the perfect weather they had for the event Saturday.
Event organizer Donna Schantz said the sunny day was spent waiting for some good gusts of wind.
On the professional field were kite flying champions Brian Champie, Dan Whitney and Dennis Churchill. Their gigantic kites intermittently filled the skies and wowed children in attendance.
A whole separate field was designated for some good old fashioned family fun where kids could run laps while trying to get their kites to take flight.
The event was sponsored by the San Andreas Merchants Association and took place at Toyon Middle School.
