Board Passes Out Forest Funds
San Andreas, CA — Several community groups in Calaveras County have the Board of Supervisors to thank for a little extra income this year.
Monday the board distributed $52,000 in Forest Reserve Title III Funds. The county receives the money every year for projects promoting fire safety.
The County Office of Education received $31,000 for a program involving educational outreach, habitat restoration and fire prevention.
The Sheriff´s Department´s Search and Rescue team got $20,000 for four radios, an ATV and a snowmobile.
And the Calaveras Foothills Fire Safe Council received $16,000 for a coordinator position.
