Copperopolis, CA — The small school of Copperopolis Elementary has surpassed the state´s expectations for the second year in a row.
The school was awarded the Title One Achievement Award form the state Department of Education last week. It is given to schools that meet certain eligibility requirements including having impoverished students with improving test scores.
Principal Julia Tidball said out of the 240 students, 40 percent are in the poverty index.
Tidball said the school will be given a plaque and administrators may attend a conference honoring them in Costa Mesa this May.
