Snow Saturday Means Icy Roads Sunday
Sonora, CA — With the snow of Saturday turning into ice, motorists are advised to use caution on roadways Sunday.
The California Highway Patrol says the probability of spinning out increases substantially when there is ice on the road.
PG&E, Cal Trans, and the CHP worked long hours yesterday to try to restore power, plow roads, and help stranded motorists.
Countless trees and sliding cars blocked roadways for several hours due to the unseasonable snowstorm.
There were several reports of car accidents, and at one point Tom Wills with the CHP told people to “just stay home.”
He said that the officers could not even keep up with the number of accidents and vehicles stuck in the snow.
Mother Lode residents saw record lows when it came to snow accumulation, with reports of more than 10 inches in Sonora.
