Weather Getting Worse Before Better In Mother Lode
Sonora, CA — A Snow Advisory will be in effect from 6:00pm Thursday through 6:00am Saturday for the Mother Lode and a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect 6:00am Friday through 12:00pm Saturday for the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
The National Weather Service says snow showers Thursday will become steadier and more widespread overnight into Friday.
One to two inches of snow is expected near 1,000 feet and four to eight inches is possible above 2,000 feet by Friday night.
Thunderstorms in the lower elevations have the potential to produce hail, intense lightning, strong winds, and funnel clouds.
Travel across the foothills and mountains will become treacherous with slippery and snow covered roads. The National Weather Service advises motorists to check the latest weather conditions before heading out.
