Prosecutors To Seek Death Penalty For Suspected Killer Of CHP Officer

Modesto, CA — Stanislaus County prosecutors say they´ll seek the death penalty for a man charged with shooting a California Highway Patrol officer to death.
Columbus Allen II chose not to enter a plea during his arraignment Wednesday in Stanislaus County Superior Court.
Allen was charged with murder in the death of CHP officer Earl Scott. The 36-year-old officer was found dead on the side of Highway 99 about ten miles north of Modesto on Friday.
