Hundreds Of Officers Expected For Services For Murdered CHP Officer
Modesto, CA — The California Highway Patrol expects hundreds of officers to turn out for memorial services for the CHP officer shot and killed outside of Modesto last week.
A public service for Earl Scott is scheduled for 2:00 Thursday afternoon at Modesto´s First Baptist Church. Scott´s burial will be private.
The 36-year-old officer was killed during a traffic stop on Highway 99 about ten miles from Modesto Friday morning.
Scott, who was about to complete five years with the force, is the fifth highway CHP officer killed in the line of duty in the last five months.
One suspect is in custody in connection with Scott´s murder. Columbus Allen the Second is being held in Stanislaus County jail without bail.
He was arrested after walking into the Stockton Police Department to talk to officers about the shooting.
