Local CHP Officer Recovering In San Jose

Jamestown, CA — CHP Officer Michael Remmel is recovering at a rehabilitation center in San Jose after undergoing surgery to amputate his legs.
CHP officers say Remmel was hit by a pickup truck last week while he was working to clean up an accident scene on Highway 49 at Parrots Ferry Road.
Officer Brad Schultz says he is not sure how long Remmel will be at the rehabilitation center, however he has vowed to return to the force.
A blood drive is being held on Monday at the Red Lion Hotel in Modesto from 2:00pm to 7:00pm.
