CHP Recognizes Broadcasters’ Support For Amber Alert
Sacramento, CA — The California Highway Patrol will be recognizing the 10th anniversary of the nationwide AMBER Alert program tomorrow.
The CHP is saluting local broadcasters and the many partners who have helped make the AMBER Alert program a success.
The date marks the 10th anniversary of the abduction of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman of Arlington, Texas. Despite a neighbor´s description of the abductor, there was no system in place to inform and alert the public.
Four days after the abduction, Amber was found murdered. Today, AMBER Alerts have led to the safe recovery of more than 200 children.
The United States Department of Justice has declared January 13th to be National AMBER Alert Awareness Day.
