WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10PM TUESDAY
Sonora, CA — The winter storm warning issued Monday will remain in effect until ten o´clock this evening.
A strong Pacific storm system will spread increasing snow across the region today. Snow will become heavy at times during the morning hours. Snow levels will initiate today at around 5,000 feet but may lower this afternoon. An extended period of heavy snow with wind gusts as high as 45 mph will make travel hazardous today and this evening with periods of white-out conditions.
Two to three feet of new snow is expected above 7,000 feet by this evening with over a foot above 5,000 feet. Elevations below 5,000 feet may also receive a few inches of snow. The snow and wind conditions will decrease later this evening.
The National Weather Service reports that another storm may impact the Sierra Nevada region Wednesday night and Thursday.
