Sonora Union High School District Selects Interim Replacement For Gaskill

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — Charles “Chuck” McCully has been hired to fill the role of Superintendent for the Sonora Union High School District on an interim basis.

McCully is a retired superintendent who currently resides with his wife in Palm Desert, and has recently completed four stints as an interim school leader. His most recent stop was with the Capistrano Unified School District from August 1, 2006 to April 30, 2007.

“I feel the main role is making sure the District continues to move ahead and do everything that needs to be done, and prepare the groundwork for the permanent superintendent so that he or she can hit the ground running,” says McCully.

McCully will travel to Sonora and visit school district work sites between December 18-20, and then step in for outgoing Superintendent Rob Gaskill beginning the week of January 7th.

The Sonora Union High School District Board of Trustees will continue to engage in an aggressive search to find a permanent replacement for Gaskill. According to the Board, that individual will hopefully be selected and working by April 1st.

The decision to bring in McCully on a temporary basis was approved at a Board meeting Tuesday night.
