Mild Fire Season For Mother Lode
San Andreas, Ca — Fire Season has officially come to a close within the CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras jurisdiction, and officials say it was fairly quiet this year.
“We actually had a rather mild fire season, which was great,” says CAL Fire´s Dave Rowe. “Especially since the conditions out there were prime for something catastrophic to happen.”
During the 2007 Fire season, there were 647 fires. 303 of the total number of fires were vegetation, which totaled 1,874 acres. The total year-to-date damage amount is estimated at $7,155,750.
Now that fire season has ended, burning will be permitted 24 hours a day, but only on “Permissive Burn Days,” as established by the Air Pollution Control District in each county.
