Local Police Dog Takes Top Prize

Angels Camp, Ca — Last week, Angels Camp Police Sgt. Todd Fordahl and dog Turner took top prize in the Narcotics Division of the Western States Police Canine Trial in Elk Grove.

The pair finished first in the Bus Interdiction event and second in the Vehicle Search, giving them the top overall score.

Turner has been owned by the City of Angels Camp since August of 2005, and is trained to detect odors and locations of narcotics.

β€œIt is pretty amazing the jobs that these dogs do,” says Fordahl. β€œI don´t think people realize how beneficial they are to law enforcement and helping us do our jobs.”

Twenty police dogs took part in the competition in Elk Grove.
