Medicare Bus Headed For Sonora
Sonora, CA — The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program in conjunction along with Area 12 Agency On Aging will be hosting the Medicare Bus Tuesday between 11am and 2pm in front of the abandoned Albertson´s store in the Junction Shopping Center.
Medicare counselors will bring information on Medicare fraud prevention and what to do if fraudulent activity is suspected. In addition the counselors will provide information regarding tools and resources that are available to help beneficiaries make smart choices about their health during Medicare´s fall open enrollment program running from November 15 through December 31.
Beneficiaries are urged to assess their health needs, review their current health and drug coverage, compare it with other plans and choose a plan that is best for them.
Medicare personnel state that financial help is available for individuals with Medicare who cannot afford their prescription drug costs. Sonora based HICAP will be on-site to help eligible people with Medicare learn more about the $3,600 that is available to help pay for Part D drug coverage and to help them complete the “extra help” application.
Also on hand will be personnel from the Social Security Administration, Social Services Department and Meals On Wheels.
