Modesto, CA — According to the Modesto C.H.P. office 20 year old Sarah Hicks died during the Thursday noon hour from injuries she sustained in a Wednesday evening two car accident on Hwy 120 near Lovers´ Leap west of Knight´s Ferry in Stanislaus County.

Hicks, an employee at the Junction Kentucky Fried Chicken store, was eastbound at 11:10pm when her 1996 Chevrolet Corsica was hit headon by 53 year old Rosanne Hernandez of Turlock. The C.H.P. report states that Hernandez was trying to pass a big rig truck while she was approaching a blind right curve in the road.

Hicks attempted to veer right to avoid the collision. She was pinned behind the wheel. Once freed she was flown to Doctor´s Medical Center in Modesto where she was placed on life support.

Hernandez sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Neither drugs or alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident.

While the investigation continues, Officer Tom Killian says whenever there is a fatality the C.H.P. will recommend to the District Attorney´s office a charge of vehicular manslaughter for Hernandez.
