CAL FIRE Personnel In Mourning

Monterey County, CA — The danger of fighing fires was brought to the forefront Tuesday with the death of 30 year old Matthew Richard Will, a heavy fire equipment operator with CAL FIRE.

Monday afternoon Will was battling the Colorado Fire in Monterey County when his bulldozer overturned. He was airlifted to San Jose Regional Medical Center for treatment but succumed to his injuries Tuesday morning.

Will was a Hollister, CA resident assigned to the Hollister Air Attack Base in the San Benito Monterey Unit. Will was a four year veteran heavy fire equipment operator who recently graduated from the department´s fire academy in Ione.

Will is survived by his wife, Diana, his 10 year old son Trysten and eight year old daughter Elsie.
