Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — The Sonora Police Department was dispatched to the Valero gas station on S. Washington St. Sunday evening after receiving a report that a vehicle ran into a fuel pump.

Officers spoke to the driver, 20-year-old Dustin Slate of Jamestown, and determined he was under the influence of prescription medication. An officer found two pills in his possession, identified as Clonazepam, that he did not have a prescription.

Also in the vehicle was Slate´s mother, 48-year-old Phyllis Leach. The Police Department says that Leach was acting nervously and clutching her purse tightly. In her purse were seven Clonazepam pills. When asked where she had gotten the Clonazepam, Leach stated that they belonged to another son, who is currently incarcerated in Tuolumne County Jail.

Both Slate and Leach were arrested and transported to Tuolumne County Jail.
