Fire Destroys Shaw Flat Rd. Residence

Sonora, CA — Fire completely destroyed a residence and an outbuilding at 20941 Shaws Flat Rd. Friday evening.

Battalion Chief and Incident Commander Steve Herzog stated the initial alarm was sounded at 7:34. The fire reportedly started in an outbuilding and quickly spread to the house.

The initial response attempted an interior attack with air packs but the fire quickly engulfed the entire structure. The crews were pulled and followed with an exterior attack until the fire was extinguished.

Herzog added that crews will be on scene until approximately midnight and a Saturday check for “smokes” will follow.

Responding to the blaze: Cal Fire, Sonora Fire Department, Columbia City, Columbia College Air Unit, Tuolumne City and the Tuolumne County Fire Department.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. The two structures were totally destroyed. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
