Senior Meals In Jeopardy Of Change
San Andreas, CA – Due to what´s being called an oversight in Calaveras County´s budget, the senior meals program in Calaveras County is in jeopardy of changing.
Common Ground is the agency that administers the program for the county. It´s director Elizabeth Thompson told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday, she was appalled and sickened by its recent decision to not fund the program. Thompson said on October 1 she would be forced to change the delivery of hot meals in Angels Camp, Murphys and San Andreas.
The board replied by saying the lack of funding was an oversight and directed staff to “find the money.”
Board Chair Bill Claudino personally apologized for the error and promised to help restore the program.
An item has been placed on next week´s board agenda to discuss the issue. Meanwhile, Thompson agreed to hold off on any delivery changes.
