Record Breaking Year For Marijuana Eradication In Tuolumne County

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — Earlier today, 3,287 marijuana plants were eradicated in the Marshes Flat area of Tuolumne County.

This brings the total amount for fiscal year 2007/08 to 85,311. The previous record was set a year ago, when 83,675 plants were eradicated.

The Sheriff´s Department says most of the plants found today were three to five feet tall. If the plants had been harvested, the street value could have approached $10 million.

Based on the evidence at the scene, the Sheriff´s Department believes that it was the work of a Mexican Drug Trafficking Organization.
