Yankee Hill Fire 40% Contained
San Andreas, CA — According to CAL FIRE´s Barbara George the Yankee Hill fire is now 40 percent contained.
The fire remains at approximately 30 acres in size. Full containment is expected by noon today. The fire was initially reported at 11pm Wednesday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Harvesters of an illegal marijuana garden were present when the fire started- they then fled the scene leaving behind partially harvested plants as well as fire arms. At present no suspects are in custody.
Two firefighter injuries, a broken arm and an ankle sprain, have been reported.
Staging area for the fire has been established at Columbia State Park on Parrots Ferry Rd.
