FAA Grant Will Fund Project At Columbia Airport
Columbia, Ca — Tuolumne County has accepted a $650,000 grant from the FAA to extend Taxiway C (Charlie) at the Columbia Airport.
The project will extend the stretch 1,700 ft. to the west. The money will also help the relocation of 1,100 ft. of TUD waterline.
At today´s Board of Supervisors meeting, Airport Director Jim Thomas said that additionally, the funding will help in the construction of additional aircraft storage hangers along the southwest side of the airport.
The grant will cover 95% of the project´s cost, and the county will cover the remaining amount. Thomas believes the money that the rental hangers generate will reimburse the County´s investment.
