9,072 Marijuana Plants Eradicated In South Tuolumne County

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — In what is becoming a trend recently, the Tuolumne Narcotics Team eradicated two more marijuana gardens yesterday.

The effort was in cooperation with CAMP (Campaign Against Marijuana Planting) Agents from the California Department of Justice. In total, 9,072 plants were found in the two gardens located off Marshes Flat Rd. The land is owned by the Bureau Of Land Management.

No suspects were located. Several items of evidence were seized, including a 22 caliber semi automatic handgun, nine millimeter ammunition and rifle ammunition. The Sheriff´s Department believes that the gardens were the work of a Mexican drug trafficking organization. The plants had a combined street value of around two million dollars.

Just this Tuesday, 2,600 plants were eradicated in the Big Creek Basin area.
