TUD Conservation Effort Proving Successful
Sonora, Ca — This past spring, the Tuolumne Utilities District began asking customers to voluntarily cut back on water usage.
The message appears to be getting across. “When you compare the amount of water that we used in June of 2006 to June of 2007, we´ve accomplished a 24% percent reduction in water use,” says TUD General Manager Pete Kampa.
Kampa notes that while the reservoir levels are currently looking good, there is still a need to continue conserving water. “Unfortunately we need to keep this going throughout the season,” adds Kampa. “It is primarily to make sure that we do not need to purchase water from PG&E. That´s our objective, and we are headed in the right direction to make that happen.”
