Bird Causes Vegetation Fire

San Andreas, CA — A bird flying into a power line caused a Sunday evening 13 acre vegetation fire on Dogtown Rd. near San Domingo Rd.

Emergency Command Center Communications Opeator Mary Jo Boone reports the fire started at 6:03pm. The Blue Mountain Lookout Stations was the first to report smoke.

Responding were Air Attack 440, Tanker 83 and Copter 404 from the Columbia Air Base, eight state engines, a dozer, a strike team of crews from Vallecito and a water tender from San Andreas in addition to the Altaville-Melones Fire District.

The event was closed at 11pm.
