San Andreas, CA — A plan for the next 20 years is in the works for the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department.
Tuesday the Board of Supervisors approved hiring a consultant for $35,000 to complete the plan that will focus on future staffing needs.
Sheriff Dennis Downum says the goal is to find out where the department is and where it´s going. He says it will identify the expectations of the community, staffing needs and response times.
Portions of the plan could be incorporated in the county´s General Plan, which is currently going through an update.
Downum agreed to work with the General Plan consultants to make sure there are no duplications of efforts.
