Sonora, Ca — The Sonora Police Department is investigating an attempted murder occurring Wednesday evening in the 300 block of Hospital Rd.
Lt. Mark Stinson says dispatch received a report of a possible gunshot victim at 11:40pm. He says officers caught up with the victim after he checked in at Tuolumne General Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. The victim gave officers a false name, but was later identified as 25 year old Benito Jimmy Mora of Valley Springs.
According to Stinson, it is believed that the alleged shooter knows the victim, and it was not a random act. A police department report states that the gunman drove to the residence of Mora´s girlfriend and then shot Mora through the window.
Mora was airlifted to Modesto, and is listed in stable condition. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
