San Andreas, CA — Two Calaveras County arrests were made Saturday evening for driving under the influence.
At 7:10 40 year old Joseph Couturier was traveling eastbound on Hwy 26 approaching Gold Creek Estates when due to his level of intoxication he failed to negotiate a curve. According to the CHP the Stockton resident ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and then crossed over the westbound lane before his vehicle overturned. He suffered minor injuries.
At 10:35 42 year old Betty Smith of Galt was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence when she allowed her eastbound vehicle to drift off the right side of Hwy 4 east of O´Byrnes Ferry Rd. Smith overcorrected and her vehicle overturned blocking the westbound lane. She was admitted to Mark Twain-St. Joseph´s Hospital with minor cuts and scrapes.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
