Segerstrom Captures Top Arabic Honor

Sonora, CA — Sonora High student Carl Segerstrom has been awarded an American Field Service Youth Ambassadors Arabic Summer Language Institute Scholarship.
While some 200 students were nominated for this annual merit-based program that awards full scholarships for a summer study program in Cairo, Egypt, only 25 students were selected for the top honor this year.
Segerstrom´s full scholarship includes intensive Arabic language courses as well as the opportunity to visit significant historical sites and interact with Egyptian parliamentarians and leaders.
Segerstrom will also gain firsthand knowledge of the Egyptian culture by living with a host family during the six week program.
