C.H.P. Reopens Hwy 49

Sonora, CA — The C.H.P. has reopened Hwy 49 north of Rawhide Rd. following a two vehicle accident earlier today.

According to C.H.P. Officer John Lemas a northbound silver Toyota Echo driven by an unidentified female crossed over the center line and collided with the left front quarter of a southbound logging truck driven by 31 year old Brock Bowman of Bowman Logging.

The totaled Toyota ended up in a ditch on the right side of the road. The logging truck had to be towed from the scene. Bowman was not injured. There were no skid marks at the scene of the accident which halted traffic for an extended period of time.

The female driver was alert and speaking with paramedics while on oxygen following extracation from the Toyota. She was removed from the scene by the Tuolumne County Ambulance Service.

The C.H.P. investigation is continuing.
