Dublin Teen Missing In Stanislaus River

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A 16 year old Dublin girl is missing after losing her footing while wading in the Stanislaus River at the Pidgeon Flat area east of the Dardanelle Resort early Sunday evening.

According to Lt. Dan Bressler of the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department, Colleen Lenoir was with a 16 year old female friend. They lost their footing and the current took them downstream approximately 75 yards at 5:30pm. Colleen´s parents were on the shore fishing at the time of the incident.

They both went over a waterfall into the catacombs. Lenoir was not seen again while the second girl was able to cling to a log and pull herself up onto a rock where she was rescued by the Sheriff Department´s Search and Rescue Team. She was uninjured.

Search and Rescue Units, including a helicopter, called off the search at dark but they were back on the scene this morning at sunrise.
