Sonora, CA — The Sonora High girls´ soccer team came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to soundly defeat Colfax 4-1 this afternoon at Dunlavy Field to advance to the sectional championship game Saturday afternoon at two o´clock at Lincoln High School in Stockton.

The Falcons jumped to a quick 1-0 lead for the only score of the first half with a goal only 3:40 into the match.

With a second half adjustment of keeping the ball on the ground rather than in the air, the Wildcats started to dominate. Danielle Garvin scored her 20th goal of the year at the 37:15 mark. Still another senior, Abby Barton, handed the Wildcats their first lead with her 20th goal of the season at the 15:22 mark. Then with 3:16 remaining, Jordan Kopf scored from inside the penalty box. And just to add some frosting to the well baked cake, senior Shayla Collie drilled the Wildcats´ final goal within the two minute mark.

With the victory the Wildcats run their record to 25-1-1, they win their seventh match in a row and for the second year in a row they defeat Colfax in “second season” action. At the end of 80 minutes of play the Wildcats´ eight seniors enjoyed a moment of celebration with their 25th win of the year.
