Sonora, Ca — Sonora Pass was originally scheduled to re-open Wednesday, May 9th.
“This extra cold weather we have had has caused a delay,” says Caltrans Spokesperson Susan Lent. The road is now scheduled to re-open at noon, on Friday, May 11th.
The road has been closed since May 1st so that crews can replace culverts between the junction of U.S. 395 and the summit. Once the pass re-opens Friday, Lent says travelers should expect delays up to twenty minutes in the construction area as work will still be taking place.
