Round-Up Queen Candidates Participate In Horsemanship Competition

Sonora, Ca — Saturday morning´s Horsemanship Competition marked the final public event heading into Sunday night´s Mother Lode Round-Up Queen Pageant and Coronation.

The four candidates for Queen are as follows:

Katie May Broderick – She is 16 and a junior at Sonora High School. After graduation she plans to go to Columbia Junior College to complete her general education requirements. Her parents are Jim and Ray Broderick.

Missi Elliott – She is 18 and a freshman at Modesto Junior College. She plans to transfer to a state college or university to study fashion merchandising or animal science. Missi is the daughter of Bruce and Cyndy Elliot.

Melissa Hankins – She is 18 and a freshman at Columbia Junior College. Melissa plans to go to Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo to get her masters degree in mechanical engineering.

Jessica Haynie – She is 18 and a junior at Tioga High School. She plans to attend Columbia Junior College, and then transfer to the University of California, Davis. Jessica is the daughter of John Haynie and Margaret Whitelaw.

The results of Saturday´s Horsemanship Competition held at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds will not be known until Sunday night. The Queen Pageant and Coronation begins at 5pm at the Sonora Elks Lodge.
