Consolidation Of Twain Harte And Black Oak Schools To Be Discussed Tonight
Twain Harte, Ca — Community members have an opportunity to weigh in on a proposal to consolidate Black Oak Elementary and Twain Harte School at a town hall meeting set for 6pm.
“Tonight´s conversation will simply be more of the same conversation,” says Twain Harte – Long Barn USD Superintendent of Schools Mike Brusa.I will summarize my recommendation to do the move.”
Due to shrinking enrollment, Brusa believes the best option is to have Black Oak Elementary students attend class at the Twain Harte School beginning next fall. Ten years ago there were approximately 850 students at the two schools, while currently the number is around 430.
Brusa says the school board will take additional input from the public tonight and will then make a decision at a meeting in May. Tonight´s meeting will be held in the Twain Harte School Cafeteria located at 18815 Manzanita Dr.
